Gemballa Mirage GT Matt Edition photos Revealed

http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/gemballa-mirage-matt-edition/gemballa_1024_768_1444.jpg

This is the latest Mirage GT to come out of Porsche tuner, Gemballa’s garage. The Carrera GT may well have ceased production on May 6, 2006 but Gemballa are still finding enough interest in their Mirage kits to create a new one every now and again.

http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/gemballa-mirage-matt-edition/gemballa_1024_768_1445.jpg

Essentially a Mirage GT Carbon Edition with a different paint job and blue Alcantara interior trimmings, the sinister looking supercar features a massive V10 engine with 670 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. Performance stats include 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, a 0-200 km/h (124 mph) time of 9.7 seconds, and a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph).

http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/gemballa-mirage-matt-edition/gemballa_1024_768_1435.jpg

The exterior looks stunning as always with Mirage GT’s. The mix of matte black paintwork and silver accents really make the car stand out. The interior is less of a success though.

http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/gemballa-mirage-matt-edition/gemballa_1024_768_1438.jpg

Although no official details have been released, expect the Matt Edition to be sold in extremely limited numbers with a price surpassing €300,000 ($419,012 USD).

http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/gemballa-mirage-matt-edition/gemballa_1024_768_1442.jpg

As with most tuners, Gemballa have added a garish ‘one-off’ theme to the car. A mixture of black material, blue alcantara and a space age-looking silver material give it a strange new look that’s definitely an acquired taste! As you’d also expect, there’s plenty of carbon fibre in this car.

MTM turns up the wick on the 2010 Audi S4

The tuners at MTM have begun tweaking the all-new 2010 Audi S4 (B8) in Europe, and as expected, Audi's new supercharged 333-hp 3.0-liter V6 is rife with potential. With only a revised ECU and an underdrive pulley – no intake or exhaust mods – MTM was able to coax 430 crank horsepower out of the blown six – 97 hp more than stock.

The kit, which retails for 2,491 euros (around $3,500 USD), brings torque output up to 380 lb-ft and, according to MTM, drops the 0-60 mph time from 5.2 to 4.6 seconds. Clearly, good things are on the way for the BMW 335i fighter, and we expect more to follow when the new darling of the Euro-tuning scene arrives in the States later this year.

Videos: Mugen confirm hotter Type-R for UK in development

http://www.drivers-republic.com/resource/fkrnv7wu7j3ryhq29ckj11t4.jpg

After much speculation Honda has confirmed that Mugen Euro Co. is developing a much more hardcore Civic Type-R prototype specifically for evaluation for the UK market.

It's possibly the worst kept secret on the web, but nevertheless a Mugen-tuned Type R is still a tantalising prospect. Honda claim that there are no production plans for the car but the images suggest it's almost fully signed-off, at least for a limited production run.

The car is being run on the same powertrain as the 2007 Civic MUGEN RR from Japan but will have its power and torque increased. That model had 240hp (177kW), was 10kg lighter than the standard model and was limited to only 300 units.

Mugen will liberate more power and torque from the 2-litre iVTEC engine and also focus on improving the chassis with much stiffer track-orientated suspension to work together with the limited-slip differential as fitted to the 'Championship White' Type R.

"In standard trim, the Civic Type R is a thrilling machine to drive," said Hiro Toyoda, Vice President of MUGEN EURO. "It is a fantastic base model from which we hope to develop one of the quickest point to point front-wheel-drive road cars in the country."

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake released with 725hp

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

Las Vegas-based tuners Shelby are releasing another new set of mods for the Mustang. The limited edition 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake includes improvements both to power and performance.

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

The Super Snake gets a standard Ford Racing handling package, which includes lowered springs, adjustable dampers, front strut tower brace and tuned stabilizer bars. You can purchase the optional Shelby/Eibach handling package as well. Custom Alcoa 20-inch wheels surround the cross drilled rotors. A six-piston Shelby/Baer brake system is also part of the package, as are the front brake cooling ducts.

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

"Over the past 12 months, my team of hot rodders was hard at work on a Super Snake package for the next generation GT500," said Carroll Shelby. "Every lesson we learned kicking the competition around on the track over the past two years has been poured into this new car to keep Shelby owners out front."

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

That is why the company mounts an optional Shelby/Kenne Bell supercharger kit, which raises power output to 725 horsepower. You can also take the car down a peg, and opt for the Ford Racing Supercharger, which helps to produce a maximum 630 hp and 590 ft-lb of torque. Either way, the driver will take control of a six-speed manual gearbox featuring a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio via the short-throw shifter. A Borla exhaust unit is also included on both.

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

Although the company does say that, "Exclusivity will be assured as a limited number of Super Snakes will be built," what they do not say is how few units will be produced. This information would surely be beneficial to anybody considering the car as an investment.

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

Visual changes begin with the new fiberglass hood, Super Snake striping, rear decklid lettering, and various badging. Shelby headrests and floormats are also included.

2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

The 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake will begin production in August. Pricing for the 630 hp package starts at $29,495, while the 725 hp kit goes for $33,495. Installation is included, but the price of the car is not.

Press Release

JE DESIGN lashes on the Diesel: Entire sport programme for the VW Scirocco

* Performance of the TDI rises to 205 hp
* Entire body kit and lowering guarantee sport appearance
* Complete wheel set in 19 inches and two finishes

The times of shaky oil burners are over. But the diesel engine still has a rather stale image. Now JE DESIGN is taking on this prejudice.

The refiner located in Leingarten, Germany enhances the performance of the already agile turbo diesel in the VW Scirocco with an additional control unit by more than twenty-five percent from 140 hp (103 kW) to 180 hp (133 kW). Also the maximum torque increases from 320 to 400 Newton metres at 1,750 to 2,500 r.p.m. respectively. The maximum speed thereby rises from 207 km/h to 213 km/h, and the acceleration from zero to hundred is reduced by 0.9 seconds to 8.4 seconds.

Also for the new 2.0 TDI CR, JE DESIGN offers a performance enhancement of 170 hp (125 kW) to 205 hp (171 kW). With that, the Scirocco then renders a top speed of 229 km/h (serial model: 222 km/h) and accelerates from zero to hundred in 7.1 seconds (serial model: 7.8 seconds). The torque rises to 410 Newton metres (serial model: 350 Nm).

JE DESIGN offers the entire performance pack with assembly for 1,249 euros (180 hp) and 1,449 euros (205 hp) including VAT and adds a 12-month warranty.

In order to adjust the appearance to the newly gained power, JE DESIGN has created an entire body kit. The refiner produces these parts in the usual OEM-quality made of high-quality ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). The CNC-milled material ensures a low weight, perfect fitting accuracy and at the same time, the highest material stability.

The kit for 919 euros including VAT includes a front spoiler with a centre sword in carbon look which already renders a racy glance when the car is still parked. The side skirts with air inlets and a rear skirt attachment which is perfectly adjusted to the other component parts and which is also available in carbon-look renders a powerful profile. A refining kit for gull-wing doors (1,549 euros) completes the body modification.

The muffler made of stainless steel with two central oval end pipes (899 euros) renders an earthy sound and an impressive appearance. The muffler comes with an EU-operating license. The lowering springs (299 euros) which were especially designed for the VW Scirocco, lower the car by 30 millimetres and are combined with serial shock absorbers. In order to fill the wheelhouses adequately, JE DESIGN offers the elegant wheel design Multispoke as a complete wheel set. The wheels are available in the size 8x19 inches in shadow silver (2,810 euros), or graphite matt / with polished edges (2,930 euros), both with 235/35 R 19 tyres.

The sport programme for the VW Scirocco can be immediately obtained directly from JE DESIGN, from car component dealers or from Volkswagen partners. For more information about the extensive JE DESIGN programme, please do not hesitate to contact +49(0)7131/20384-0 or visit the web site www.je-design.de/en/

Unlikely State Of Tune: Mugen takes on the Honda Stream

You wanted something sporty, but due to additions to the family, a minivan is as athletic as its going to get. But if that minivan is the 2010 Honda Stream, you can still satisfy your sporty urges thanks to Mugen. The practically in-house tuner has developed a full line of interior, exterior, aero, performance, handling and cosmetic parts for the people mover -- from typical Mugen mods like spoilers and wheels to a performance air filter and TypeT touring brake pads. If you add the sport suspension to your minivan, well, maybe you really do need to get a different car.

Lorinser LV8 with 500hp to enter Tuner Grand Prix

Lorinser LV8

Lorinser is not a tuner that goes out of its way to create cars that scare other motorists off the freeway. Subtle but effective is how they do it over at Lorinser. Occasionally though, they present something like this which is called the Lorinser LV8. It's based on the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and instead of pushing out 332kW (451hp) it delivers 368kW (500hp). Maximum torque is also increased to 630Nm. Subsequently the 0 - 100km/h dash can be achieved in 4.3 seconds while top speed goes up to 320km/h.

Lorinser LV8

The LV8 comes fitted with 255/35 18 Continental tyres and a special Lorinser exhaust unit. The aerodynamic kit includes spoiler bumpers and side sills. Lorinser General Manager Marcus Lorinser says the car meets all the registration requirements put on road vehicles.

Look out for the LV8 at the Tuner Grand Prix on the Hockenheimring between the 26th and 27th of June.

Lorinser LV8

Press Release

Deep C research

Lorinser is sending the LV8 to the Tuner Grand Prix with 500HP

At the Tuner Grand Prix on the Hockenheimring (26th/27th June) Sportservice Lorinser will be presenting a C-Class from another universe: 500HP (368kW) and 630Nm catapult the black limousine from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.3 seconds and help it reach a top speed of 320. With a delicate touch of the accelerator the Continental tyres, with the ideal dimensions of 255/35-18, start to cling with all vehemence to the tarmac, so that they don't shed an ounce of traction. Here the 6.2 litre V8 makes a shout of joy which is enough to give you goose bumps, and breaks fresh ground with the well tempered Lorinser exhaust unit.

Despite its exciting performance the rapid vehicle, which enters the C3 Class (limousine suction cars), is fully compatible for everyday driving. "It meets all of the registration requirements for road vehicles and that is precisely what makes it so fascinating", explains the General Manager Marcus Lorinser. This is also helped, of course, by its optical appearance, which is characterised by an attractive aerodynamics package with spoiler bumpers and side sills. Viewed in this light it is a "C" with real class.

Mugen Planning RR-Version of Euro-Spec Civic Type-R

Honda Civic Type-R Mugen edition

The new engine is based on the regular 2.0L Type-R unit but thanks to a number of subtle performance mods, output of the high-revving naturally aspirated engine rise to 237hp (177kW) and 160lb-ft (217Nm) of torque. Other modifications include uprated shocks and springs and Mugen’s new 'I-TCMS' tire monitoring system. Brembo has also been called in to supply huge 12.6in slotted discs up front and 11.1in units in the rear.

Honda is currently prepping an even higher performance version of its European Civic Type-R that’s set for release in the UK in the third quarter, with other markets to follow shortly after. The latest version has been inspired by last year’s Civic Mugen RR concept vehicle and has been developed by in-house Honda tuner and performance accessories division Mugen.

Honda Civic Type-R Mugen edition

Production will be extremely limited, with only a few dozen cars planned. If you aren’t able to get your hands on one, the new Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane R26.R should offer similar performance and hot-hatch thrills.

The main aim of the game, however, is weight reduction and in the case of the latest Mugen Civic Type-R engineers have removed the rear seats and added lighter carbon-fiber accessories. New lightweight 18in alloys and a pair of Recaro bucket seats also make the cut.

How It's Made: Hurst Hemi Dodge Challenger

At SEMA last year, the legendary shifter company Hurst made huge waves with its Hemi Challenger. We've been following Hurst's progress of the cars ever since, and even got the chance to get behind the wheel of the prototype car for a brief stint. We recently made the trip down to Hurst Performance Vehicles' headquarters in Irvine, CA to see just how stock Challengers are transformed into one of their limited edition muscle cars.

You might think that Hurst would be hard pressed to find customers in today's economy, but we were surprised to see their building overflowing with Challengers. There were completely stock cars that had just been delivered, cars getting superchargers and suspension upgrades, and plenty of complete cars waiting to be delivered to their lucky new owners.

Hurst was kind enough to give us a full tour of the facility, and showed us exactly what goes into making one of their Challengers, whether it's a base Series 2 model or a full blown Series 5 with all the bells and whistles. Follow us on our tour in the gallery below, which includes high-res photographs and detailed descriptions that follow a Hurst Challenger from start to finish.

HS Motorsport - VW Scirocco special edition “Remis”

VW Scirocco special edition “Remis” by HS Motorsport

This year's Wörthersee tour featured plenty of cars as usual. One of the eye-catchers present was the Volkswagen Scirocco coupe. Tuners HS Motorsport decided to take the tour out of its venue and into their workshop by making this car they call Remis. The Munich-based company started by reworking the standard 2.0-litre TSI engine to produce more power.

VW Scirocco special edition “Remis” by HS Motorsport

The body kit is made of a carbon fiber front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. The car runs on 245/30 ZR20 matt black rims with 9x20 with Vredestein tyres.

VW Scirocco special edition “Remis” by HS Motorsport

Inside HS installed heated Recaro Sportster CS seats with black Remis-special leather upholstery and white Remis embroidery.

VW Scirocco special edition “Remis” by HS Motorsport

Coming from the factory the 2.0-litre registers 200hp (147kW) on the dyno. HS changed the air intake system and the exhaust system. The latter consists of a 70mm flame pipe, a new EU-approved catalytic converter, rear and front mufflers. Together these and one or two other additions now give the engin -e 290hp (213kW). HS doesn't stop there. Promises of a 320hp (235kW) pack have been made for the buyer with more performance requirements. Braking power comes from Brembo via special narrow one-piece discs and callipers.

700-hp, twin-turbo Reed Speed Ford Mustang coming to a dealer near you

There's no shortage of Mustang tuners in this world, but Randall Reed Ford is removing the middle man and will begin offering its own "signature edition" 2010 Ford Mustang GT through Randall Reed stores and select dealerships across the country.

Developed in partnership with Artisan Performance, the Reed Speed SSE is packing a reworked engine, complete with forged rods, new pistons and Total Seal rings. The new internals drop the compression ratio to accept the 12 psi of dual-intercooled boost huffed through a set of Artisan Rear Mounted twin turbochargers. According to Reed, the combination is good for 700 hp, and will only be backed by a proper manual gearbox.

In addition to the engine mods, the stock stoppers have been replaced by 14-inch rotors with six-piston calipers supplied by SSBC, while a custom body kit widens the track of the Reed Speed 'Stang by 1.5-inches in front and 3.0-inches in the rear. Housed within the stretched sheet metal are 20-inch iForged wheels, measuring 11 inches wide in front and 13 inches in the rear, and along with the two-tone custom BASF paint and smoked lens, each Mustang comes with a numbered plaque and "owner's package." There's no word yet on pricing or availability, but expect the SSE to be available later this summer.

Mercedes C-Class Estate gets the Black Bison treatment

The Black Bison line of appearance packages from Wald has won notoriety for its treatment of everything from the Nissan GT-R to the Lexus IS-F and even Toyota's Land Cruiser. This time out, they've taken on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate, and come up with yet another extreme creation.

The Estate version gets the same basic package with the exception of the monstrous spoiler, which obviously wouldn't work with the estate body style. In its place is a surprisingly reserved rear diffuser and roof lip spoiler.

If there's one consistent theme in the Black Bison method of madness, it's the use of extravagant aero kits to take the palette of the donor car to the next level. The Black Bison C-Class sedan is an especially good example of this, getting what looks like a spare barn door as a spoiler and a very aggressive front-end treatment.

But with the huge alloy wheels, busy front end, front fender vents and custom interior going on, the Estate pulls off the look without needing anything more. Though some might say the sedan didn't need the whale-tail either.

The kit is available, in Japan at least, for just over $5,000 (¥504,000) including tax. And for those that might rather do something else with any individual part of it, the pieces of the kit can be purchased separately.

GT2 Can Play That Game: 9ff and Switzer each tune out 800+hp Porsche 911s

First up to bat is American Porsche tuner Switzer Performance, which fitted a new set of Garret GT30R turbos, tweaked the ECU and replaced the exhaust system to the tune of 800 horsepower, which is all the more impressive considering that they achieved the figure running on regular old 93 pump octane.

With the Porsche Carrera GT long out of production and the anticipated roadgoing RS Spyder still a ways down the pipeline, the performance mantle in Stuttgart is held up buy the 911 GT2. Boasting 520 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a 206 mph top end, that may be enough for some, but not for everyone. Not by a long shot. Following the Wimmer RS GT2 sporting a hefty 680 horses and capable of reaching 221 mph, two additional Porsche tuning houses have taken the roadgoing racer even further with upwards of 800 horsepower.

But if that ain't enough to satiate your super-Porsche cravings, along comes 9ff with an even more bonkers tuning kit for the GT2. The same firm behind the svelte, extreme GT9 supercar has taken the GT2 up to 850 horsepower, and has supplemented the extra boost with carbon fiber body panels and a downforce-increasing aero kit.

9ff claims its latest rocket sled will run up to 62 mph in three seconds flat and top out at a stunning 240 mph, but the gearing can be tuned according to the customer's specifications to either optimize acceleration even further or augment the top speed. It even looks nifty in Gulf livery. Follow the jump for a press release and video from Switzer, or click on the thumbnails below for a high-resolution gallery of the 9ff GT2.
